At first, we were just planning to relax together after being busy with work every day.

“To relieve some stress,” one of my coworkers said.

So we decided to try surfing together.

The atmosphere was lively right from the start. Before we even got into the water, everyone was already joking around, taking photos, and challenging each other to see who could stand up on the board first.

The funny thing was that most of us had never surfed before 😄

Then our instructor arrived.

What surprised us was how fluent he was in Japanese.

At first, we thought he only knew a few simple phrases.

But we were completely wrong.

He explained surfing techniques in Japanese so smoothly that even our Japanese coworkers looked impressed.

But what surprised us even more was his personality.

He was absolutely hilarious.

While demonstrating how to stand up on the board, he explained everything very seriously.

“First, place your hands here... then slowly stand up...”

Everyone was paying close attention.

Then suddenly, he pretended to lose his balance and threw himself onto the sand.

“Don't do it like this!” he said, laughing.

We burst out laughing.

Once we got into the ocean, things became even more entertaining.

Every time someone fell, the instructor had a funny comment ready.

When one of our friends spun around dramatically before falling into the water, the instructor joked in Japanese,

“Wow, that's not surfing—that's an acrobatic performance!”

Everyone laughed so hard that we almost forgot to paddle for the next wave.

There was also one coworker who was extremely confident before entering the water.

“Don't worry,” he said. “I'll definitely be the first one to stand up.”

Five minutes later, he had fallen three times in a row.

The instructor immediately shouted,

“Amazing! Today you've already mastered three different falling styles!”

Even the person who fell couldn't stop laughing.

What impressed us most was that the instructor was not only funny but also incredibly patient.

Every time we failed, he continued to encourage us.

Every time we managed to stand up, even for just a few seconds, he celebrated as if we had just won a world championship.

Little by little, we started catching waves.

Some of us managed to stand for two seconds.

Some for five seconds.

And some got so excited that they forgot to get off the board and ended up falling by themselves 😄

By the end of the lesson, we were exhausted.

Our arms were sore.

Our legs felt weak.

Our faces were covered in salty water.

But one thing was certain—we went home with bigger smiles than when we arrived.

Because that day wasn't just about surfing.

It was about laughing together with coworkers, enjoying the waves, and meeting an instructor who was not only great at surfing but also great at making everyone laugh.

Even days later, after we returned to the office, the thing we talked about most wasn't the best wave we caught.

It was the instructor's hilarious antics and our coworkers' unforgettable wipeouts that we would never forget 🌊😄
