Today we showed up full of confidence.
Tomorrow we’ll be surfers—at least, that’s the plan.

Today the board feels way too big,
the ocean feels way too wide,
and somehow the leash keeps wrapping around our own feet.

The instructor says,
“Relax, feel the wave.”
We nod… then panic the moment the water hits our knees.

A small wave comes.
We stand for half a second.
Just long enough to feel like a pro—
then fall in the most dramatic way possible.

We laugh, swallow some seawater,
and climb back onto the board with “professional” faces.
