“This is fun.”
At first, I stepped into the ocean with hesitation.
As the water touched my feet, the cold instantly seeped deep inside. In my heart, I said, “this is my first and last time.” Not because I was sure I would fail, but because I wasn’t sure I would enjoy any of this.
The waves looked bigger than I had imagined. The sound of them crashing felt almost like a challenge, while I just stood there, trying to gather my courage. Around me, people seemed so relaxed—falling, laughing, and trying again. Meanwhile, I was still negotiating with myself.
I slowly started paddling. Every movement felt awkward, every small wave felt like a test. Until finally, one wave came.
I tried to stand.
And… I did it.
Just for a few seconds. Very brief. But in that moment, everything changed. The sound of the waves, the cold, the doubt—all of it disappeared. What remained was just one feeling: “this is fun.”
I fell again after that. Over and over.
But strangely, I didn’t care anymore.
The words “this is my first and last time” that I had said so confidently earlier… suddenly felt distant and irrelevant. Because now, every time I fell, there was only one thought in my mind:
Let’s try again.
And from that moment on, I knew—it wasn’t just standing on the board that made me happy, but the journey of standing up again and again.
Those few seconds… were enough to make me addicted. 🌊🏄♂️
